- Afraid of the Dark -BY LAURA FOLEY
- Even though she now had a husband
- Rock solid by her side
- She still needed that light to guide her in the night to safety
- For when darkness falls
- She starts to lose faith
- Panic creeps in
- Things That Go Bump In The Night Become Real To Her Again
- But her thoughts become louder
- She covers her ears & shuts tight her eyes until she can stand it no more
- Desperately fumbling for her tablet or phone
- Seeking a light to illuminate the darkness
- Her heart stops pounding
- Her breath slowly returns
- And turning to one side, she sees her husband fast asleep
- "Oh how I wish I could sleep like that! God where are you?" she cries to herself
- But no one hears her except for the lord, who gently reminds her
- “My precious child, I love you and will never ever leave you!"
- And with that, up from the ashes she rose
- Strong and determined.

- You can spend all day on your hands and knees,
- Looking under the bed, in cabinets, and drawers.
- Spend hours riffling through closets, boxes, and more.
- Until at last you find it, pieces of a broken soul,
- Once hidden away.
- Now slipping from reality and scattering across the floor.
- You begin to realize there's a fearful aspect to existing,
- When the emptiness that surrounds you threatens to swallow you whole
- Followed by a silence so deafening,
- You cover your ears and curl up tight.
- As anguished cries begin to form,
- No sound escapes your lips.
- And then out of the shadows cones an I ner child so small,
- You didn't even knon she was there at all.
- Gently wiping the tears from your face.
- Now cupping her hands around your chin,
- She leans in and whispers "I love you!"

- Magic Woman -BY GINA M. PUORRO
- Sisters, you have diamonds
- Between your teeth
- And spices underneath your tongue.
- You make love to the air you breathe
- When you exhale your truth
- Through red lips
- Smeared with honey.
- Your blood runs in shades
- Of purple velvet and saffron sunsets.
- You are both a thunderstorm
- And clear blue skies
- An unpredictable force
- With the promise of redemption.

- Do not be so quick to reveal the passcodes
- To the ecstasy written between your thighs
- Lest you forget
- The way you leave them thirsty
- To drink from your river.
- You were not made to be diluted.
- You are a cosmic martini
- Made of deep oceans and fertile earth
- Desert winds and molten lava
- With stars in your eyes
- And the moon in your womb
- ebbing and flowing the tides of your love
- pulling us softly to your vast shores.
